This unassuming brick Victorian house was the home of the famed
human rights advocate for 40 years, from 1866 to 1906. In this house, Susan B.
Anthony conducted the campaign for women's suffrage; was arrested for voting in
the presidential election of 1872; co-authored the history of the women suffrage
movement; and at the age of 86, died fourteen years before the constitutional
amendment was ratified finally granting women the right to vote.

She shared this home with her sister Mary
and occasionally other relatives and friends over the years. Although at
times a campaign headquarters and office, the house was foremost a place
of hospitality and comfort and is preserved as such today. Acquired in
1945 by a group of women determined to save this important piece of
history, the house has been telling Susan B. Anthony's courageous story
for almost 60 years.
